Sunday Currently - Aug 24 v.20

Greetings from Orlando! Hope everyone had a great weekend and everyone has a fabulous long weekend coming up. Even though my usual TSC link up is gone, I thought I would write one since I had some time today.

My weekend has been a bit of stressful one. I left Friday for my second contract at sea and while I was on the shuttle over to the hotel, I received a phone call saying that I would have to be re-assigned to a different ship temporarily because my assigned ship cannot accommodate me at this, for whatever reason. I was a little bit worried because I know how difficult it can be to find a space on a ship for my position. My only option was to be flown out to St. Thomas USVI tomorrow, Monday, and join a different ship temporarily until I can be placed on my original ship. My weekend has been spent in this hotel in Orlando, which did allow me to sleep in for a few more days! Some Pro's about this little change in plans -- I know the CD on the ship I am going, if I am still there in November I know two fellow staff members, I get to experience two ships/two teams/two management teams during this contract. Con's -- I am worried about flying through and into a hurricane and making it to the ship on time, just saying.

Anywhoo ....

Oh Hey, Friday v5 - Orlando Edition

Greetings from Orlando & welcome to the weekend!!

An easy going day turned out to be quite stressful for me. I am more nervous for this contract than I was for my first contract and I have no idea why! The first half of my day was great. No traffic on the way to the airport, checked in and upgraded my seat in seconds and the best part, the guy let me go through WITHOUT weighing my bags! It was the first time I flew WestJet and they were ON POINT! The flight was a little bumpy but I did get to watch the movie Blended through the flight which was great. Thennnn my day turned around, for the worse. As I was on the shuttle on my way to the hotel, I received a phone call telling me I was unable to join my assigned ship tomorrow due to scheduling issues! I was gutted. I was so excited to be joining this brand new ship with awesome ports and an awesome team. After a few phone calls, emails and tears, I think a plan is finally laid out. As of now, I am staying at the hotel until Monday (yay for two extra sleep in days!) and then they are going to fly me to St. Thomas to join the Liberty. Once the scheduling issue is fixed on the other ship that I was supposed to join, they will send me back. I am hoping it gets resolved ASAP!

Anyways, back to todays OHF post! I am linking up with September Farm and The Farmer's Wife.

ONE
Mocha almond butter from Monkey Butter .. where have you been all my life??

TWO
It's been such a busy week, here I am on a Friday night at 8:50 ready for bed. Well, actually I was ready for bed at like 6:00 ....

THREE
My newest addiction!

FOUR
As I was packing and getting things ready for today, I thought to myself "why did you fall in love with a job that requires ALL this"? I am very close with my family and there's no better feeling than coming home to a comfortable and inviting living room and watching a movie or tv show. And cuddles with my kittens doesn't hurt either. Aside from that, I hate packing and I hate flying and it takes me a while to get used to being away from home. I would fall in love with a job that required me to be away and only home a month a half out of the year. That requires me to try and pack my life into suitcases and to fly! I guess it's the days where I'm sitting on the beach or swimming in the ocean that makes up for it.

FIVE
How cute are these little guys??

Target Haul

It never fails to happen - I go into Target needing a few items and I come out a million dollars later. Okay, maybe not a million dollars but I think you get the idea! I am loving today's haul. Since I am heading out to sea again on Friday, I had to pick up a few essential things. I won't bore you with the other items but these items I decided to include in my post ...

Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Concealer - Aside from M.A.C and Garnier's BB Cream, this is the ONLY concealer I will use. It has the perfect amount of coverage without making your face feel heavy. To be honest, it doesn't even feel like you're wearing concealer.

Maybelline Volum' Express in Glam Black - This is my go to mascara. I receive so many compliments on my eyelashes and it's all thanks to this wonderful product. I was in Sephora one day and one of the make up artists thought I was wearing fake lashes and I told her what it was and she was in shock. If you're looking for a great product that DOESN'T clump, I highly recommend this.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain - This is a fairly new product and it is my latest addiction! I found it at Target and instead of buying just one, I had to buy these three colors. I would have bought more, but some colors are just not "me". This is a creamy lip stain that provides moisture with Aloe and Vitamin E and gives your lips that glossy look. I bought Cannes Crush, London Posh and L.A Exclusive.

CNE Summer Tradition

Hey guys - sorry I didn't write a Friday link up post yesterday. I spent all day at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) and by the time we got home, I was exhausted and went right to bed. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far, minus the horrible weather. We are in the middle of August aren't we?

I thought I would write a little post about yesterday while cooking dinner. I miss my "not so healthy dinner" sometimes .. it's a struggle. On the menu tonight, turkey bacon, oatmeal and fresh fruit for dessert.. can we say delicious? NOT!

Every summer since I can remember my mom and dad would take my brother and I too the CNE. It's held in Toronto and they hold it for a few weeks until school starts. For my brother and I, it always meant that we had school in a few weeks, but now, it meant back to work for me. Yesterday was the only time the four of us (dad, brother, brothers girlfriend and myself) could make it before I went back out to sea. I absolutely LOVE it! It's a gigantic midway with shopping buildings and the notorious food building. This food building is packed with food options that range from normal (pizza) to not so normal (chocolate fried chicken and thanksgiving waffles). I usually stick to the normal food, but it definitely is consider a cheat day. Even though yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been.

The weather was, well okay perfect, it wasn't too hot but at night, it did get a little chilly. Last year it was SO humid and sticky I suffered from a bit of heat stroke.

One of my favorite things is the little booths that they have in the buildings with various things. I did manage to pick up some healthy snacks .. wait, me buy healthy snacks?
I fell in love with Monkey Butter's Mocha Almond Butter! A great way to enjoy a snack at night with some apples while watching something on television. I also found some flavored soybeans that I couldn't resist; dill pickle and chai latte. I didn't even have my usual ice cream and waffle later on in the evening. I think the fact that I decided it was too cold for ice cream kind of helped.

They also have a "Beach Bar" which we visit every year for a nice refreshing adult bevie! I love the chairs, colors and the fact that they have sand. Home away from home! :) My bevie choice this year was Richards White.

And then there was this .... the GIGANTIC transformer. ABSOLUTELY HUGE!

It was nice way to kick off my last weekend at home. It feels like I just got home and unpacked and now I have to pack up again. Oh well, c'est la vie!

Enjoy your weekend everyone :)

Bedroom Makeover Ideas

I've decided that my bedroom needs a little make over. Since I'm only home for about a month to two months out of the year, it's been difficult to find the time to actually get down to it. I thought about leaving lists and pictures for my dad and brother to start it all, but I am not so sure how I feel about that. How badly can they screw it up if there are lists and pictures right??

I thought I would share some of my ideas with you guys and get some comments and suggestions. My room is not huge by any means but it's big enough to never stay clean. Right now my walls are white, except for one that has wallpaper that I did not choose. Here are my wallpaper ideas ...

WALLPAPER
I am IN LOVE with Damask wallpaper. My dad, however, isnt a huge fan but I am sure I can talk him into it. My initial thoughts were to have the wallpaper on two walls and then have the other two painted white. I have been playing around with the color of the wallpaper, but I definitely want the two other walls white.

I am also thinking of maybe doing a striped wallpaper ...

FIXTURES
I also want to put a small decorative chandelier. Nothing too fancy or big and I don't think I want it to work, just a decorative piece.

SHELVING
For my shelving, I thought of just having something hung up on the wall instead of a shelving unit.

CLOSET ORGANIZATION
I have a fair sized walk in closet but it's not being used to it's full potential. I thought I would put some shelving in there to help it stay clean and organized, because honestly, it never does. I also need a place to put my shoes other than the millions of places they already are.

And instead of doors, I want curtains ...

BED
Unfortunately, my bedroom isn't big enough to hold my dream bed, so for now, I guess these choices will have to do ...

What do you guys think? Any helpful hints and suggestions ?

In My Bag

While looking through my Bloglovin' feed this morning, I came across this really interesting link up presented by HeatherLisaBecca and Rachael - hope you enjoy!

If anyone knows me, they know I LOVE a good purse/bag. I usually carry a bigger bag and have A LOT more "stuff" in it, but traveling has helped me narrow it down to the "necessities" of what I actually need in my bag. I also change my purses every month and every season, so yes, I may have a collection of purses.

So .. this is my current bag by Vera Bradley. It's smaller than my usual sized purse but it hold a lot more than I thought it would.

Here is what is in my bag ...

  • Make up bag by Bath & Body Works
  • Wallet by Michael Kors
  • Gum
  • Mints
  • Aleve
  • Prescription medication
  • Comb
  • Passport holder
  • Pen
  • Sunglasses by Betsey Johnson
  • Nail file

My make up bag is usually a bag within a bag ...

  • Nail file
  • Mascara - Maybelline Collossal Volume
  • Foundation - Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless
  • Pressed powder - MAC
  • Concealer - Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless
  • Concealer - Almay Smart Shade
  • Eyeliner - Avon
  • Lipgloss - Victoria's Secret
  • Lipstick - Cover girl
  • Blush - NYC
  • Bronzer - Wet N Wild
  • Tweezers
  • Make up brush

What's in your bag??
