Five on Friday - V.1

Happy Friday! Once again Friday is upon us! I'm enjoying linking up with others and doing some day of the week posts. This is one I will be doing for Friday called "Five on Friday". You just write down 5 things that you like or enjoy from the past week (I think) and then link your blog up with another. This week I will be linking up with A.Liz Adventures. Hope you enjoy my first "Five on Friday".

1. The weather - I am a MAJOR summer loving person. I don't like the cold or the snow and if we could have weather like we have had this past week ALL YEAR long, everything would be perfect. Minus the thunderstorm we had, it has been absolutely beautiful with temperatures in the mid 90's and sunny. Everyone says that this is the official last weekend of summer. Yes, usually when kids go back to school it marks the end of summer. However, for me, my summer isn't over until the official first day of Fall. Even then, I have a hard time believing it.

2. Vega One Nutritional Shake & Vega One Energenizing Smoothie - I'm not the healthiest eater but I have been trying to eat a little bit healthier than I usually do. Even when I do eat my healthiest, I still don't seem to consume enough nutrients that I am supposed to. I have been researching this product for the past two weeks and finally decided to go out and buy it. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but for what it offers, it's a price worth paying. Today would be day three of taking the Nutritional Shake. While doing some research, I found that people have said to start with a smaller dose and that it may cause some stomach issues, due to the fact of what is in it, especially with people who are not used to having that many nutrients all at once. I decided to try it at night for the first little while when I am getting used to it. The first time I tried it, I will admit that I was a bit nervous because of some of the reviews that I read. I used a smaller amount and mixed it with chocolate soy milk. Vega is plant based and is dairy, soy and gluten free - so it's perfect for vegetarians or vegans. I, myself, am neither so that is why I decided to go with the soy milk. After mixing it, the texture became really thick. The taste is a little different from the other shakes I have tried but I actually don't mind the taste. It does take a little getting used to. I have also tried it with coffee, and that tastes a little better. I am going to try and mix the smoothie with some plain greek yogurt. After drinking the entire nutrient shake, I was full! I read that you can use it as somewhat of a meal replacement, but those never make me feel full, this one did! So BONUS! So far I am impressed. I just needed a little something to help provide some extra nutrients into my diet.

3. Organizing - When it comes to school and work, I am like the queen of organizing. When it comes to my room however, doesn't happen as often as I would like. So with the time off I had this week, I decided to start organizing a few things in my room. It went well. The one thing that I really needed to get done was my nail polish. I have an obsession and addiction to nail polish and painting my nails. If there is a chance for me to purchase a bottle, I will. However, in my defense, I change the color every week so I use them.
This was my nail polish before. It may not look like a mess in this picture but it was overflowing and it wouldn't sit well on my dresser anymore. I was hoping to get some clear glass containers with lids so I could see which colors were where, however, after an extensive search, I wasn't able to find any that were the size I was looking for. I opted for these instead ...
I was able to find these cute pink and white polka dot boxes at the dollar store. Now, to me, this looks MUCH better than having them overflowing from their original state. They are now able to sit on the shelf much better than before.

4. Football season - I am a HUGE football fan and I am so excited that this season is now upon us. My team of choice are the New England Patriots. No, not only for Tom Brady like most people think. My high school team were the Patriots and the fact that the NE Patriots are actually a really good team (yes, Tom Brady does help!) that is why I have been a Patriots fan for a long time. When my grandma was alive, we always used to watch games together. She was a Buffalo Bills fan so it always made things more interesting. So to this season - LET'S GO PATRIOTS!

5. I came across this quote the other day and I thought it was perfect for the moment. Enjoy.

On The Bookshelf

You will notice a new page next to "About Me" called "On The Bookshelf". I have listed books I am currently reading, have read and want to read. I know when I am trying to find a good book, it always helps to have recommendations. I use the app "Goodbooks" and it has helped A LOT. Feel free to browse the page and each time I find a new book I want to read or a book I complete, I update the page. Hope that this can help those who are trying to find a good book. Enjoy :)

In my drugstore bag!

Since I am somewhat new to this whole idea of blogging, I have been reading other blogs and I have seen some pretty interesting posts and designs. I have come across a thing that a few people do that I thought was really interesting and it may help my readers who may not be following or reading the same blogs that I am. It's something called "Drugstore Haul". I first came across it on Lauren's blog and thought what she did was really interesting. So here is my first edition of what I call "In my drugstore bag".

Wal-Mart or Shoppers Drug Mart are my usual "go-to" stores, however, just recently they have built a Target down the street from my house. The fact that this Target is not across town like the Wal-Mart is, the fact that there is a Starbucks in it and the wide range of products, I have now become a Target girl. I usually plan to go in for one or two things - I end up leaving with a lot more. Here is a list of things that I picked up from Target last Thursday.

Up & Up Make-Up Remover Cloths - By the time I am ready to head to bed, I try to do whatever I can to make my bedtime routine as smooth and quickly as possible. I have been using make up removing cloths, along with eye make up remover. I used to buy the brand name cloths, however, I found that the store brand ones work just as well - along with having more for the price. I haven't tried the up & up brand yet, as I am still finishing my other pack, but after reading reviews, they seem to work just the same as other brands. I find the cloths remove make up quickly and easily and do not leave my face feeling dry or oily.

Essie Nail Polish - I have an obsession and addiction to nail polish and painting my nails. I change the color every week. As I mentioned earlier in this post, I am a new Target "lover" and just recently found that they put Essie nail polish on sale in the store here. I knew they did in American stores, but I wasn't sure in Canadian stores. Let me tell you how happy I was. I came across two colors that I fell in love with that were on sale. Shake your $$ Maker & DJ Play That Song. I am currently wearing Shake your $$ maker and I love the color. I had to use 3 coats to get the strong bold color that I like, but it was well worth it.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss - Alongside nail polish, I am a lip gloss and lip stick addict as well. I have seen Baby Lips around for a while and just thought it was another product. However, after reading reviews and hearing my friends talk about it, I thought I would try it out. I AM HOOKED! I have already purchased three, but I am currently using Peach Kiss. This lip gloss has SPF 20 in it, which is a great thing for me since I am very fair skinned so I burn easily. It keeps my lips moist for longer than 2 minutes like some other glosses and it gives them a nice color along with a soft texture.

Maybelline Volum 'Express Colossal Mascara' in Glam Black - Before this mascara, I would try every kind and every brand that was available in the store. I could never find a mascara that would do what I wanted - no clumps and extend the length of my eyelashes. I finally found the one and I haven't used a different mascara in a few years. I swear by this! I love the length it gives my eye lashes, which are not very long to begin with, and it doesn't clump. I find that I don't have to apply many coats as well, usually one or two and I am good to go. I receive a lot of compliments on my eyelashes when I am wearing it, my favorite being from an artist at Sephora who said I have beautiful eyes and the mascara helps them "pop".

CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation and Concealer - I was in the same boat with foundation and concealer as I was with mascara. I tried every brand and every kind until I came across this brand. I haven't used anything else for a few years now. I had a difficult time finding something that would cover up imperfections, match the color of my skin and not leave a "heavy" feeling. This foundation and concealer has it all. It applies easily, covers up imperfections, doesn't leave your skin feeling heavy or shiny/oily. The color also matches my shade of skin perfectly - which is usually difficult for me. This foundation and concealer also doesn't clog pores which is another great benefit. On a monthly basis, I will get compliments on my skin as well. I just tell them that it's the make up I use which really helps give me that "flawless" look. The only time I won't have that "flawless" look is if I am rushing through application, I am breaking out or I am REALLY tired. Aside from that, this is my go to foundation and concealer and I won't try or use anything else - for now.

Dove Beauty Sheer Touch Skin Renew in Clear Tone Deodorant - Dove is my staple go to brand for deodorant. I usually use Clear Tone or the Ultimate. All I can say about this product is that it ACTUALLY DOES WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO. Keep in mind, everyone is different, but for me, it holds true to what it says.

So that's what was in my drugstore bag this week. The things that I post about each product are my comments and opinions only and will differ from each person. I will update and post each time I go, hopefully with different and new products. Some things that I use are my "staple pieces" but I usually buy more than one different product each time. If you want to find out more information about these products, you can always visit the Target website, which is where I purchased all these products.

Hope you enjoyed reading! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

The Sunday Currently - August 25 v.2

After a very long and fun weekend, Sunday is upon us again. It's funny how when you're looking forward to something the week goes by so quickly. When you don't have anything exciting coming up, the week seems to go by so slowly. Well, another Sunday means another Sunday Currently.

Reading: I'm still on the same two books I was on last week - Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman and Crazy, Sexy, Diet by Kris Carr. I haven't had much time the last little while to continue on with them, so for now, I am still on those two.

Writing: This edition of Sunday Currently. I've also been writing a lot of "to-do" and "to-buy" lists lately. It seems that my mind is elsewhere and having these lists have come in handy.

Music: My current "song of the moment" would have to be Wake Me Up by Avicii.

Listening: To the movie Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows on TV.

Guilty Pleasure: This week/weekend, my guilty pleasure has been a lot of fair food and treats. We went to the CNE on Friday and of course, it's a little difficult for me to pass up on some goodies that I wouldn't normally eat. This time at the CNE, I was defeated by the biggest portion of funnel cake I have ever seen, indulged in a red velvet cupcake and some candy. Needless to say, back on to the "eating healthy" track.

Thinking: About what I am going to make for dinner tonight.

Nail Color: Shake your $$ Maker by Essie
Smelling: The laundry that is being done in the house.

Drink: Decaf orange pekoe tea.

Wishing: The summer didn't go by so fast and that I hear something about my hopefully soon to be exciting adventure.

Food: Not eating anything at the moment.

Hoping: That I hear something soon.

TV Show: Still continuing on with 90210. I'm hooked!

Wearing: Capris pajama pants from La Senza and a dance t-shirt.

Loving: That I have the week off and the majority of next week off as well.

Wish List: A pair of low rise white Converse running shoes.

Wanting: The summer to continue on.

Needing: To clean my room. It always seems to be clean and then every time I need to find something to wear, it becomes a mess again.

Blessing: That I was able to do what I did on the weekend with my family.

Feeling: Content, a little under the weather, but content.

Clicking: The keys on my keyboard.

Excitement: That hopefully SOON I will be receiving the email that I have been waiting for.

Nothing too exciting in this edition. Maybe next Sunday there will be more news! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and your week! :)

Tuesday night movie

Every Tuesday my mom and I try to catch a movie, sort of as a mom and daughter thing. Usually in the winter we are pretty good at going every Tuesday. The summer is more difficult because of summer plans. However, today we were able to get out and see a movie and just catch up on things that have been going on. It was really nice. Sometimes I miss the whole mom and daughter thing.

Tonight's movie choice was "We're The Millers".

I have been waiting to see this movie since I saw previews for it a few months ago. I am one of those movie goers who DO NOT go by the reviews. The reviews on this movie weren't that great, but, I never let the reviews ruin it for me. I must say, this movie was HILARIOUS! When I saw the previews, I thought it would be a pretty straight forward movie. I was wrong! There were things thrown into the movie that I was not expecting. One thing I know for sure - Can I have a body like Jennifer Aniston please?? PLEASE?? I was actually surprised that my mom liked the movie too. She doesn't like the movie "Step Brothers" (how, I have NO idea!) so I didn't think she would actually like it, since "We're The Millers" is a little bit more crude than "Step Brothers". However, she enjoyed the movie and she thought it was funny. Therefore, if you are into goofy funny movies - check it out!

Enjoy the rest of your week! :)

The Sunday Currently - August 18 v.1

This is my first Sunday Currently post - hopefully one of many. I think it's interesting to complete and read what others are "currently" doing. I found this version from two blogs and I decided since it was my first entry that I would combine both - it's okay to do that right? Hope so, if not, my apologies.
Today hasn't been too exciting. I didn't sleep too well last night - stupid stomach ache and headache! I've just cleaned up a bit and have some more laundry to get done - and that's my Sunday. Exciting huh? It's nice to relax a bit when I have to work the next few days and honestly, whenever I am working, it seems that nothing gets accomplished around the house.

C  U  R  R  E  N  T  L  Y  .  .  .

Reading: "Orange is the new Black" by Piper Kerman and "Crazy, Sexy, Diet" by Kriss Carr. I started and finished the show Orange is the new Black on Netflix and I absolutely loved it. I found it ended a little abruptly for my liking, but I think I'm just saying that because apparently I have to wait until 2014 for new episodes. Which, if you think about it, isn't that far away. Great book & great show! Crazy, Sexy, Diet I picked up after hearing about it from a friend. It's not just a diet book that has recipes and tells you what you should and shouldn't be eating. It's more about the whole picture - your attitude, your thoughts and yes, pros/cons of certain foods. I have actually learned quite a bit so far and it has opened my eyes on things that I never really would have noticed otherwise.

Writing: This blog - my first entry of Sunday Currently

Music: I'm not listening to any music, however, my iPod has a wide range of music from country, to the Great Gatsby Soundtrack (which is GREAT by the way!), to songs you hear on the radio. I always surprise people when they hear my music - I guess I have always been pegged as a country fan.

Listening: While writing this I am watching "The Wolfman" with Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. There is a poor movie selection on TV for a Sunday.

Guilty Pleasure: Double chocolately chip frapps, from Starbucks! It seems that I have to somehow make my way to a Starbucks every other time I am out. It also doesn't help that they have built two new ones very close to my house in the last few months - one being a drive thru!

Thinking: I'm thinking about a lot actually and that's probably why I couldn't sleep very well last night. I'm waiting on approval for something and if things are approved, my life could be changing for the better but in a huge way. I'm thinking what needs to be done if things are approved, what happens if they aren't approved, am I making the right decision with everything etc .... My mind never rests.

Nail color: Cab Fare - Sephora by O.P.I. I have an obsession and addiction with nail polish and having my nails colored. I change them up every week and every time I seem to go to Wal-Mart, Target or any store that sells polish, I HAVE to make a stop by that section.

Smelling: Nothing

Drink: Decaf orange pekoe tea. I tend to stay away from caffeine as much as I can.

Wishing: That I heard about this "approval/non-approval" soon so I know what is going on and so I know where my head needs to be at.

Food: Strawberry greek yogurt

Hoping: See Wishing.

TV Show: I have started to watch the new 90210 on NetFlix and as typical as the show may be, I just can't stop watching it.

Wearing: Pajama pants from La Senza, cheerleading competition tee and a comfortable Dickies sweater. My typical wardrobe when I'm not feeling well and I am not embarrassed to say otherwise.

Loving: The fact that I have three more double shifts and then I am off to Toronto for an overnight and off for a few days from work.

Wish list: A pair of Jimmy Choo's and Jeffrey Campbell's that I found online the other day. I have NEVER in my life been so in love with a pair of shoes than I am right now with the Choo's! I literally screamed out loud. But on a more practical level - to continue eating healthier like I have been and to continue losing weight like I have been.

Wanting: A GOOD sleep!!

Needing: To finish my laundry

Blessing: That I am able to have everything that I have in my life and that I may be able to take on an adventure to last a lifetime.

Feeling: Tired and like crap from not sleeping last night and this stupid stomach ache that NEEDS to go away!

Clicking: The keys as I am trying to finish this entry.

Excitement: That there are four days until one of the best days of the year - The CNE 2013. Every year since I can remember, my parents used to take my brother and I to the CNE every summer before school started. It's now a family tradition that has turned into who can eat the most outrageous thing from the food building to who can win the biggest prize. It's a lot of fun and my brother and I both look forward to it every summer. This year, it's apparently the year of the "Kronut" which is a Krispy Kreme doghnut burger - yes, I dared my brother to eat one! This year we'll be spending the night in Toronto - which we don't always get to do between the three of us having to book days off work - but I'm looking forward to that as well since I LOVE hotels!

Well, there is my first entry for Sunday Currently. It took a little longer than I thought, but maybe it was because I combined two versions I found. However, it was actually really fun and I am looking forward to completing more entries!

Happy Sunday Everyone! :)

Welcome :)

So, I have decided to try this whole blogging thing again - I have tried many times and failed. My decision to create a blog that I actually keep up with happened after reading a few blogs and after being told it was healthy to keep a journal and write about things that happened. I guess this will be my "online" journal. This blog will be about my day-to-day adventures and my new/exciting/terrifying adventure that I'm hoping I will be able to tell you all about soon (waiting on official approval). I may post things regarding fashion and entertainment from time-to-time, however, it will be more on my day-to-day stuff and new adventure.

I'm not sure how many people will read this or find it interesting, but you never know! I am hoping that once I can reveal my new adventure, it might help others who are in the same situation or who are thinking about it.

Just a side note - I chose the name "Beautiful Disaster" because I like the underlying meaning. I am one of those people who do not find themselves pretty, good looking or beautiful. So my chosen name for the blog does not mean I think I am beautiful in anyway - just like the underlying meaning.

I have come across a blog that does something called "Sunday Currently" and I find it really interesting to read so I thought maybe I will do the same. Sometimes I may not be able to post it on a Sunday, maybe work or something, but I will post it within a day or two. It will always be called "Sunday Currently".

Hope you enjoy going through these adventures - have fun!
