Whats Up Wednesday [3]

Linking up with Jaime and her sister Erin for this week's edition of WUW. I'm just in one of those moods where I thought I would write something different today instead of my usually SWW posts.

1. WHAT I AM READING
I am currently reading Lone Survivor. I finished The Fault In Our Stars in about two days and how come no one warned me to have a box of kleenex ready?

2. WHAT I AM WRITING
This post and a few confirmation emails to make sure everything stays on track. I have also been talking to a few ship friends lately, so a lot of messages have been sent.

3. WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW
Shortly I will be on a ship again ...

4. WHAT ELSE HAVE I BEEN UP TO.
Well, to be completely honest with you, I am finding myself in a rut. I don't know what kind, why or how I even got into this one. Everywhere I turn,  I have been seeing posts about being skinny, thigh gaps, defining yourself by which bones stick out more and get this .. did you according to Cosmo, that anything over a size 2 is considered plus size? REALLY? Did I just read that right?!? I've read "You're more than just a number". Really, then how come you fall in love with a dress and "sorry, we don't carry that in your size". Now stores are coming out with 000 -- is that even humanly possible? I understand that everyone is different and that some people may have always been naturally thin and have always had that healthy lifestyle. Then there are people like me, that no matter what I do or how much I work out or how well I eat, it never seems to be enough.
Yes, I am guilty of wanting to be a few sizes smaller than I am. Yes, I am guilty of counting calories and not eating something because that will put me over my calorie intake for the day. Yes, I am guilty of standing in front of the mirror and picking out my flaws. I thought I was doing it for myself, but really, am I? Or am I just trying too hard to fit in with society's image of "beautiful'?

PS. That was REALLY hard for me to write and share with you guys.

Oh Hey, Friday v3

Another Friday is here and I am linking up with September Farm and The Farmer's Wife for this weekends edition full of photos - enjoy!

ONE
One of the main questions a crew member is asked while working on a ship is "Where are you from". When guests found out I was from Canada, they were amazed for some reason. If people have been here, they loved it, if they haven't been here, they want to visit because it's beautiful. I never really thought of it that way because I was born and raised here. When I came home and all those words and thoughts from people sank in ... they were right and I am very blessed to have been born and raised in such a beautiful country. Annndddd since the weather has been nice lately, I took advantage of it.
Not bad for a front yard huh?

TWO
While cleaning out my room yesterday, I decided that I may or may not have an addiction to Toms. It's only six pairs ... it's not that much of one right?

THREE
I cannot believe next Friday is August 1 ... the older I seem to get, the faster time seems to go.

FOUR
These have been my thoughts the last week ...

FIVE
I discovered the show "Leah Remini: Its All Relative" last night and OMG! I could not stop laughing. Her family is hilarious! Do you think she would be into adoption ;) If you guys haven't already checked it out, I highly suggest it!

Have a wonderful weekend guys!

My thoughts ...

So What Wednesday [7]

This week I am saying SO WHAT if ...

➜ I went to the Cheesecake Factory on the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed a piece of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake

➜ I am glad the British Open is finished - I can stop hearing about it now!

➜ I have FALLEN IN LOVE with Pretty Little Liars!! When I am watching that show, I am in a zone! Just what I needed, another show to be addicted to

➜ I enjoyed the movie "The Purge: Anarchy"

➜ I am getting nervous (the good type) about leaving again

➜ I have been thinking "Breaking News: I Don't Care" and "Mood: Can't Even" lately

What are you saying "So What" to this Wednesday?

Oh Hey, Friday v2

I have a feeling this weekend is going to be a great one! :) Hope everyone had a wonderful week.
Here is this weeks edition of Oh Hey, Friday presented by September Farm and The Farmer's Wife.

ONE
Are we in July? Are we in the summer? You would never know .....

TWO
Does anyone watch The Glades? I didn't even know they had a season four until I logged onto Netflix the other day. HOW DO YOU END A SEASON LIKE THAT? And then CANCEL the show?? Oh, I was not impressed. I don't think they thought the show would be cancelled but come on, you can't leave us hanging like that ...

THREE
I was talking to a friend who is still on the ship the other day and it just made me miss ship life even more than I already do. I miss working all day and then taking a power nap and then heading to crew bar all night .. then doing it all over again the next day. For six months it was stay up late, tell myself the next day it won't happen again, repeat! I came across this the other day and it explains ship life and crew bar TO A T!

WHEN YOU WANT A NIGHT OFF FROM CREW BAR AND YOUR FRIENDS ARE ALL LIKE ...

FOUR
I don't know why but I have the urge to get a pair of these pants. They look so comfortable and just perfect for a lazy day or night.

FIVE
35 days until the open ocean again! YAY!

Have a wonderful weekend! :)

Christmas in July

There are a lot of things that make me happy. Two of them, probably on the Top 5, is receiving packages in the mail & shopping. I woke up this morning to find packages arrived for me and I felt like a little kid Christmas morning.

First up ....

My yoga pants from The Paisley Rooster finally arrived. I have eagerly been awaiting these pants as they are super adorable and who couldn't use a new pair of yoga's right? The store is in Tennessee and they didn't take too long to get here, which was great. When I saw them online, I was in love but when I opened the package and put them on - HEAD OVER HEELS! They are beyond comfortable; more comfortable than my Lululemons (sorry!). They have so many designs so it was difficult for me to decide which two I wanted. I will DEFINITELY be ordering some more of these pants. The best part, they are two sizes down from the size I was before! :)

Working down South, I came across certain fashion that you don't see up here in the great white North. Vera Bradley is one of the fashion designs that I absolutely fell in love with. During our usual home port shopping trip, I found a store that carried VB, and did I buy something? Of course. I was hooked!! Once I came home, we went to Grove City for a shopping trip and they had VB store there. The store was beautiful, bright and just confirmed my love for VB. While I was browsing, and yes I was actually browsing, the website, I saw a few things that I thought would make my next contract and travel days a lot easier. When I see something and the words "Oh My God" come out of my mouth, that pretty much means I have to have it. I ordered a duffle bag for my carry on, a beach bag and a carry all wristlet for when I'm out in port and don't want to carry my purse.
I put in my two orders a day a part from each other and they said I would receive them in about a week. It was only a few days and they arrived together. Can we also just look at how great the packaging is. When I saw the boxes I was honestly a little disappointed as I was like VB should have had nicer packaging. Opened them up - SURPRISE! It's going to be hard to get rid of these boxes. WELL DONE VB!

Thennnnn.... I decided to venture to Chapters and Starbucks today. I would live off of SB when I was working on the ship and I felt like I was going through withdrawal. A double chocolately chip frapp was the trick! I purchased three books that I have been eagerly awaiting. "The Fault In Our Stars", "Lone Survivor" and "Gone Girl". So tonight, I'm going to go to the gym and have a nice bath and then start my reading. I just felt like I was watching too much tv and that I needed a good book. Even though, I will finish these in a week or so.

Have a great weekend :)

Finish The Sentence

While browsing my Bloglovin' feed, I came across this very interesting blog entitled "Finish The Sentence" and I just had to write an entry myself.

When I open the fridge, I always hope to find ...

Fresh fruit like strawberries and blueberries

My favorite article of clothing is ...

Right now, it would have to be my Cariloha tee shirts that are made from bamboo. They are the softest shirts and so comfortable to wear in the heat.

Last week I was really pissed when ...

The only time I came remotely close to being "pissed" was the one night where I couldn't fall asleep no matter what I did. Other than that, nothing pissed me off at all :)

One thing nobody understands about me is ...

How I can get bored so easily. Everyone has been saying I should enjoy my time off and not having anything to do. I have ALWAYS had something to do, whether it be school work or two jobs or dance/cheerleading .. this is the first time I have had nothing. I don't like it one bit.

One thing I don't understand is ...

What "BAE" means. How people constantly feel the need to make others feel inadequate. How people think it's okay to voice their opinions on how they should be living their life. People who don't like ice cream or soda.

The world would be a better place if ...

People kept their noses out of other people's lives and business. If people were open and honest and not say things people only want to hear.

If I could change one thing about myself, it would be ...

My eating habits.

Something that can always make me happy is ...

White sand, palm trees and the open ocean.

If I could go anywhere, it would be ...

Hawaii, Australia and Fiji

Because ...

In my opinion, they look like the most beautiful places in the world.

If I were an animal, I would be ...

A sea lion or a penguin.

A job I've always wanted is ...

To work for the FBI or CIA

My idea of a perfect day is ...

Any day that is spent at the beach - no lies!

Thanks for reading :)

Week 1 of Tiny Tea Teatox

Week one into my Tiny Tea Teatox is complete! First off, I am not a fitness or health expert by any means and what I write and experience during this Teatox is based on my own personal experience.

For almost 20 years, I was a competitive dancer and cheerleader. As soon as school was finished, I was straight into the studio, 6 days a week. Between dancing and cheerleading, I was never at home and I was never in a gym working out. While other kids were out playing on the weekends, I was putting my ballet slippers, tap shoes on and throwing people in the air while learning cheers. Side note: I MISS THOSE DAYS! Anyways, I never really had to "watch" what I ate because I worked it off. No, I didn't eat like crap all the time, I was still conscious about what I ate, but the worry of having to work it off never happened. When I stopped dancing and cheerleading, that is when I really noticed just how fit and healthy I actually was. I remember thinking that I was fat back then - please, what was I thinking? Naturally, I gained weight and after a horrible five year relationship, I became "satisfied" that I would never look the way I wanted or used to. I don't know about you, but I am an emotional eater and I probably will be for years to come. It wasn't until recently where I said "enough is enough". I'm tired of never feeling comfortable in a bathing suit, never wanting to be in a bathing suit and always having to hide my arms. Something needed to be done ...

WHICH BRINGS ME HERE ...

If you haven't already guessed, I am a HUGE fan of Instagram. I don't even remember how I came across the account of Your Tea but when I did, all I saw were tons of before and after pictures of people trying this tea. I don't think I read one bad review so naturally, I had to look into this tea. After spending some time on their website and researching this tea, I decided to give it a try.

I was impressed with the packaging, customer service and how fast I received the tea. I decided to do the 28 day TEATox; they also have a 14 day as well. This tea is a blend of Chinese herbs which is supposed to help with bloating, fatigue, migraines, energy, skin and of course aid in weight loss. You're supposed to have it 30 minutes before each meal, 3 times a day, as well and keeping up a healthy and active lifestyle.  After week one, here are my reviews.

Consumption: My life is not a 9-5 life. I don't have a set schedule so I'm finding it a little difficult to have the time to have a tea 30 minutes prior to a meal. Usually I don't drink my tea fast either, so it may take me a few minutes before I'm finished.

Taste: I'm a picky person, therefore, I was weary of what this was going to taste like. I have a friend who tried this and she could not stand the taste and tried everything in power to add something to make it taste better. Surprisingly, I like the taste and I don't need to add anything. It may take some getting used to, but it was a nice surprise.

Tiny Tea Benefits: Around Day 3 is when I started to notice a few things. I wasn't feeling as bloated and my skin looked more fresh. I never had an issue with my skin but after Day 3, it had a "fresh" glow - if that makes any sense! I still haven't noticed any more energy but that could be because I'm still trying to get adjusted to being home after 6 months at sea. Little disappointed on that end, but then again, it's only week one. I'm not craving as much junk food and sweet things and I find that I'm not as hungry as I used to be.

Diet/Exercise: I now pay more attention to what I consume that's for sure. On their website they provide a list of things to eat and avoid while drinking this tea. In my opinion, the list may be a little bit much. I am also in the gym a lot more and adding in more weights than I was before. I try to get to the gym for cardio about 4-5 times a week and will usually add the weights in for 3 days and then a day off.

Aiding in Weight Loss?: I'm not one to usually post pictures of anything or write down or record anything that has to do with my weight. I thought with doing this, I should to see my progress. I'm VERY hard on myself and I have to keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat and I should judge my progress based on how my clothes fit, not by what the scale says. Easier said than done! While I was on the ship, I started to take measurements instead of weighing myself.

JULY 1 MEASUREMENTS                                         JULY 12 MEASUREMENTS
Waist (W): 27'                                                                  W: 26.5
Hips (H): 38                                                                      H: 37.5
Thighs (T): 22.5/22.5                                                       T: 22.5/22.5
Under Bust (UnB): 29                                                      Un B: 29
Bust (B): 36.5                                                                   B: 36
Arms: 11.5/11.5                                                                Arms: 11/11

Small differences are better than nothing, rightt?

All in all, week one wasn't so bad. Changes do not happen over night and it's going to be a gradual change, not an instant one.

Oh Hey, Friday!

Every time I find a new link up to replace the ones on hiatus, a different "version" of the one on hiatus comes out! I came across this link up today while scrolling through my blog feed. It's "Oh Hey, Friday" presented by September Farm and The Farmer's Wife. I would also like you guys, the readers, to decide which Friday link up you would prefer from me; either "Oh Hey, Friday" or "Five Things Friday" which is wrote last Friday. Feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

ONE
While scrolling through my Twitter feed, I keep coming across this - "BAE". I'm sorry, but what does that even mean??

TWO
If anyone needs to find me most nights, I am usually spending them marathoning season 2 of Orange Is The New Black and now ..... Hemlock Grove! I missed out on some shows while at sea, so this "vacation" I will be catching up. Hmm let's see the shows I have on the go: OITNB, Hemlock Grove, 24, Supernatural, Game of Thrones and Sons of Anarchy. I also came across the show Witches Of East End. Has anyone seen it before? Is it worth my time?

THREE
My exact thoughts on my fitness journey sometimes!

FOUR
Summer is my all time favorite season. Okay, I may like  Spring because the weather starts to get nicer and it means summer is around the corner. Okay, okay .. I may like the Fall because of the outfit choices. Other than that, "I am only happy in the sun". I am so blessed that I get to have a job that allows me to travel the world to beautiful islands and have summer weather for most of my year. However, when I am at home, which is usually only a month and a half out of the entire year, I love having BBQ's, bonfires and patio drinks.

FIVE
It is almost FOOTBALL season!!!

Thanks for stopping by and reading! Have a fabulous weekend :)

Whats Up Wednesday [2]

I know I posted a SWW before this, but I recently discovered this link up and I absolutely love it. This week I will be posting two Wednesday posts and hopefully you guys don't mind.

1. What I'm Reading
Still reading Hemlock Grove. I will try and finish it by next Wednesday so I can have some thoughts on the book. I've also been reading a lot of blogs lately which I find so relaxing and interesting.

2. What I'm Writing
Text messages to someone who I miss so very much and of course, still writing those emails.

3. What Inspires Me Right Now
When I was younger I was heavily into dance and cheerleading. Once school let out for the day, I would be right in the studio 6 days a week. Between dance and cheerleading, I always had the "dancer legs" and I never thought I was thin. If I could ONLY have that body back! While I was on the ship, I started to go to the gym once I decided I had enough of never being comfortable in a bikini. I kept it up for a few months and now that I am home, my ocean view gym has been taken away from me, so I rejoined the gym I was at before. I keep looking at pictures from way back in my dancing/cheerleading days and I am determined and inspired to get back to looking like that. I know it will not happen over night, but with time and dedication it CAN and WILL happen.

4. What Else Have I Been Up To
To be honest, not much. I am still trying to get adjusted to being home. When I woke up this morning, I finally felt rested and like I had gotten some sleep. I have been home two weeks this Saturday and last night was the first night I felt like that. I have been visiting with friends and finally met my brothers girlfriend today. Everyone else in the family has had the pleasure of meeting her, but because I have been away for 6 months, kind of puts a damper on our "meeting" plans. She is such a lovely girl and we got a long really well. There weren't any of those "awkward silences" which was really nice.

What's Up With Your Wednesday??

So What Wednesday [6]

As I was scrolling through my Bloglovin feed this morning, I came across a SWW post from my usual link up! It's been a while since this link up happened, so naturally when I saw it, I was so happy! I am linking up with Shannon for this post and saying ....

"So What" If....

➜  I didn't want to come home once my contract was finished

➜  I am having a difficult time adjusting to "land life" and being home

I have been binge watching Orange Is The New Black and 24

➜  I miss being out in the open ocean and on a ship

➜  I have recently discovered The Paisley Rooster and may or may not have ordered a few things from them

➜ I purchased a Polar FT4 watch because I am seriously getting into fitness and trying to feel my best

➜ I think I am going through "ship sickness"; not home sickness

➜ I am in love with the Your Tea Tiny TeaTox tea

What are you saying "So What" to this Wednesday?

Sunday Currently - July 7 v.14 *Tuesday Edition*

I had every intention of posting this on Sunday, however, a family bbq and bonfire was in the way of my laptop. A Tuesday edition is just as good ... right?? :) Linking up with Lauren this week.

 C U R R E N T LY

READING: Almost finished Hemlock Grove. I didn't really have much time to read on the ship but once this book is finished, I am moving on to Gone Girl. I have wanted to read this book for so long and I keep putting it off but after seeing a preview for the movie they are making (yes - what?!), I NEED to read this book asap.

MUSIC: There are a few songs on my "list" lately ... Dark Horse by Katy Perry ft Juicy J, 23 by Mike Will ft. Miley Cyrus, Pompeii by Bastille, Team by Lorde

LISTENING: Silence .... sometimes that is all you need.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Angry Orchard Hard Cider! I found this little beaut on the ship and I haven't been able to turn away since. I don't like apple cider but this drink is DELICIOUS! It kind of sorta tastes like you're drinking a sour apple candy. Only downfall, it has a lot of damn calories so usually one is my limit :(

THINKING: You know how there is being home sick, is there such a thing as being "ship sick"?

NAIL COLOR: Blue My Away by Sally Hansen

SMELLING: Nothing at the moment

DRINK: My TinyTeaTox tea

WISHING: That Mother Nature would realize that it is SUMMER and not spring and give us some actual decent summer weather.

FOOD: Last thing I ate was blueberries

HOPING: I can actually get some decent sleep tonight

TV SHOW: 24! I cannot get enough of this show. I was introduced to it on the ship, along with a few other shows, and I cannot stop watching it. Almost finished S2, out of 8 seasons. Good thing I'm on vacation until the end of August

WEARING: Pajama pants and a Jacksonville, FL hoodie

LOVING: The fact that it is summertime!

WISH LIST: A few good books that I have been wanting to get

NEEDING: To go through my room and clothes, AGAIN! It's never ending, especially when I bought things at sea

BLESSING: Everything - my family, my friends, my health and my absolutely wonderful job!

FEELING: A little bit tired and that I still have not completely adjusted to being home

CLICKING: This keyboard

EXCITEMENT: At the job I had before the ship, every summer we would hold our annual summer party and someone's house. I thought I would be missing out on some our events but luckily for me, I will be in attendance this year! I am so looking forward to seeing everyone again. I can't wait :)

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and have an even better week!

Five Things Friday - July 4th

It seems that all the links up I used to have are either non existent or on "summer break"! Boo! That's okay, I can wait until break time is done and find some other interesting and new link ups! I always loved having "5 On Friday" and now I am going to change it to "Five Things Friday" presented by Clare.

Before I get started with my post, I would just like to wish a very safe and happy Fourth Of July to everyone! Hope you are out enjoying your day! :)

Here is my "Five Things Friday" for July 4th.

five things i ate.
I went to Grove City, PA for a few days and we tried a new restaurant called Primanti Bros. Their "thing" was the sandwiches that have coleslaw and fries ON the sandwich. To me, working at sea with different cultures, a french fry sandwich was not unheard of (Quite delicious actually!). I had the turkey without the coleslaw and the french fries on the side. This sandwich was HUGE! Could barely get through half of it. I was impressed!

Whole Wheat Mini Wheats are probably my new favorite snack!

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich from a new restaurant that went up down here. Had dinner with some amazing people from the job I had before I left for sea. It was so nice to see everyone and catch up. Felt like old times :)

Watermelon - Summer time favorite! Wouldn't you agree?

Portebello Mushroom Chicken - simply delicious!

five workouts.
Monday: Walking

Tuesday: Rest

Wednesday: Hour of power walking/run and weights

Thursday: Rest

Friday: Power walking/run and weights

five pins.

Words of Wisdom for the week

five things making me happy.
My Your Tea Teatox tea arrived!! I'm not one to really try these things because I never really know how much about it is the truth and how much is made up. I also understand that every body is different and things won't work the same for everyone. I gave in and decided to order it and try it. It's called the Tiny Tea Teatox (28 days) by Your Tea. This is an organic herbal blend with some Chinese herbs which is supposed to help your overall well being. You're supposed to have more energy, better sleep and better skin. It's also supposed to help with bloating, migraines, IBS and aid in weight loss. You drink the tea three times a day, 30 minutes before a meal. Of course you are supposed to continue work out and maintain a healthy eating diet. I'm looking forward to try this tea and seeing what happens. I suffer from some pretty bad migraines, my sleep pattern is HORRIBLE and of course, I am trying to lose a few pounds. I will keep you guys updated on my journey with this!! :)

Being away at sea for six months at a time can be difficult when it comes to missing your family and friends. Everyone always tells you that they miss you and can't wait for you to come home. It's not until you're home do you realize just how much they actually miss you! It's nice to have family and friends who don't just say what you want to hear. They are your true friends no matter what happens or no matter how far away you go.

49 days until I am back at sea!

As silly as this may sound, the new fragrance of air freshener in my room. I bought this air freshener from Bath & Body Works that plugs into your wall. I am a clutz and have a cat, therefore, I do not trust myself with candles in my room. The scent I have in now is called "Hawaiin Hibiscus". As soon as you walk in .. BEST scent ever. It also doesn't hurt that the hibiscus is my favorite flower.

I can paint my nails a new and exciting color every week. While at sea, we cannot have our nails painted any other colors than your traditional nail colors. I was used to having a different and fun color every week. It sucked royally but now that I'm at home for a month, it's back at it. This weeks color is Blu Me Away which looks like the Tiffany blue.

Hope you guys enjoyed my first edition of Five Things Friday! Now it's your turn ... What is making you happy this week?
